AFCA Partners with NIKE Coach of the Year Clinics

The American Football Coaches Association has added NIKE Coach of the Year Clinics as an educational partner.

“We are always looking for ways to provide professional development opportunities for our members and to expose them to the best coaches in the game,” says AFCA executive director Grant Teaff. “The NIKE clinics have always been first-rate, and we’re proud to work with them.”

The NIKE Coach of the Year Clinics, founded 50 years ago, feature some of the nation’s top college football coaches speaking at 20 sites in every corner of the nation.

“I am very pleased and excited that our venerable and esteemed football clinics are teamed together with the American Football Coaches Association for the year 2012 and hopefully for many years to come”,  says John Majors, president of NIKE Coach of the Year Clinics. “I am certain that the founders of the Nike Coach of the Year Clinics, Duffy Daugherty and Bud Wilkinson, would endorse this partnership between our clinics and the AFCA and its executive director, Grant Teaff.”

Majors, former head coach at Iowa State, Pittsburgh and Tennessee is a past president (1990) of the AFCA.

AFCA members will receive a clinic discount when registering for NIKE Clinics online.  The AFCA will have a presence at selected clinics, including banner signage and other promotional opportunities on site.  The AFCA logo will be on NIKE clinic brochures and on its website.  AFCA will reciprocate with logo presence and a link to the NIKE clinic website and recognition of the partnership in some AFCA publications.

The clinics are "state of the art" events featuring more than 70 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches on the NIKE advisory staff.  Attendees will learn about techniques, philosophy, pointers and strategy from the most respected men in the field. Last year, more than 12,000 high school coaches attended the clinics, which offer a great opportunity for attendees to share ideas at the clinic social events with their coaching peers.
