Final Week of Regular Season Approaches
With the final week of the regular season approaching, the Division III Coaches’ Poll saw plenty of shifting, as several teams moved up as many as six spots from their positions last week. After defeating two ranked opponents over the course of three weeks, new-No. 20 Wheaton (Ill.) returns to the top 25, defeating then-No. 11 Illinois Welseyan and then-No. 8 North Central (Ill.). With its performance this year, No. 6 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, currently at 9-0, will dethrone Wisconsin-Whitewater for the first time as Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) champs since 2004.
Following a 38-7 victory against then-No. 15 Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio), No. 1 Mount Union clinched its 21st straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship, with only John Carroll (Ohio) in the way of a perfect regular season. The rest of the top five remained unchanged, as No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), No. 3 St. Thomas (Minn.), No. 4 Linfield (Ore.) and No. 5 Wesley (Del.) went undefeated.
