Top 10 Loss Causes Shakeup in Division II Top 25 Poll

No. 2 Minnesota State-Mankato beat then-No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth, 21-17, causing a reshuffling of teams in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The top six teams remained unchanged with Valdosta State (Ga.) holding onto the No. 1 spot for a fourth straight week. The Blazers are followed by No. 2 Minnesota State-Mankato, No. 3 Northwest Missouri State, No. 4 West Texas A&M, No. 5 Colorado State-Pueblo and No. 6 Missouri Western State.

With its loss, Minnesota-Duluth drops to No. 13 in the poll, while Indianapolis (Ind.) fell 10 spots to No. 22 after its 31-14 loss to FCS-member Drake (Iowa). Tuskegee (Ala.) and North Alabama dropped out of the poll this week, making room for Emporia State (Kan.) at No. 24 and Tarleton State (Texas) at No. 25. This is Tarleton State’s first ranking in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 since the final poll in 2009.
