Minnesota State-Mankato Still No. 1 in Division II Poll
The top three teams in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll stayed the same this week, but an upset loss by then-No. 4 Henderson State (Ark.), and four other Top 25 losses caused a shakeup in the poll. No. 1 Minnesota State-Mankato, No. 2 Minnesota-Duluth and No. 3 North Alabama remain the same, but Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) and Ferris State (Mich.) both jump up one spot to round out the top five.
No. 17 Harding’s (Ark.) upset of then-No. 4 Henderson State caused the Reddies to fall 10 places to No. 14 this week, giving No. 13 Ouachita Bapitst (Ark.) command of the Great American Conference title race. No. 6 Bloomsburg (Pa.) took control of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division after its 41-10 beating of then-No. 7 West Chester (Pa.) while No. 5 Ferris State controls its own destiny for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title after handing No. 21 Michigan Tech a 37-3 loss.
There are three Top 25 matchups this week, and they all have conference title implications. No. 1 Minnesota State-Mankato and No. 10 Sioux Falls (S.D.) will battle for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division top spot while No. 3 North Alabama and No. 19 Delta State (Miss.) find out who will be the front-runner in the Gulf South Conference. The final matchup sees No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne traveling to No. 16 Carson-Newman (Tenn.) for the top spot in the South Atlantic Conference.
