Little Change in AFCA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll
There was little change this week in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll as the Top 21 teams from last week’s rankings all won. Minnesota State-Mankato kept their No. 1 spot for the fourth straight week, beating Wayne State (Neb.) 49-0. Minnesota-Duluth still sits at No. 2, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.), Ferris State (Mich.) and Bloomsburg (Pa.).
Carson-Newman (Tenn.) and Ashland (Ohio) fell out of the poll allowing Texas A&M-Commerce and Valdosta State (Ga.) to re-enter this week. Texas A&M-Commerce comes in at No. 24 after beating Tarleton State (Texas) 56-49 in the first round of the Lone Star Conference (LSC) playoff. The Lions will play Angelo State (Texas) next week for the LSC playoff championship. Valdosta State re-enters at No. 25 after a six-week layoff. The Blazers are 7-2 after handing North Carolina-Pembroke a 36-7 loss.
There are only two Top 25 matchups in the final week of the regular season, but both have conference title implications. No. 9 Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) puts its unbeaten record on the line as they travel across 10th street in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to face No. 14 Henderson State (Ark.) in the Battle of the Ravine for the Great American Conference title. The second matchup has unbeaten and No. 12 Concord (W.Va.) traveling to No. 21 Shepherd (W.Va.) with the Mountain East Conference championship at stake.
