
Georgia Survives Top 15 Showdown

The SEC opener for Georgia and Tennessee was an exciting game. Both teams racked up nearly 1,000 yards of total offense as they traded the lead back and forth during the game. Knotted at 38 at the end of regulation, the Bulldog defense held Tennessee to a field goal in the first overtime, then Josh McCray scored on a one-yard touchdown run to claim the road victory for Georgia, 44-41. Both teams remain in their same spots in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll with Georgia at No. 3 and Tennessee at No. 15.
The top 5 remained unchanged with Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, LSU and Oregon. Texas A&M enters the top 10 this week at No. 10 after beating Notre Dame 41-40 in South Bend. The loss dropped the Irish to No. 21.
