Owen Schuckert: Leading Through Service at John Carroll University
November 5, 2025
A Standout on & off the Field
Senior kicker and punter Owen Schuckert has been a cornerstone of John Carroll University Football, earning recognition as one of Division III’s top specialists. In 2024, he was named OAC Special Teams Player of the Year, First Team All-OAC, and a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. A multi-time member of the Academic All-OAC Team.
Service Beyond the Game
While Owen’s on-field performance commands attention, it’s his dedication off the field that earned him a place on the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He has volunteered over 300 hours with Sparks Specialized Services, supporting developmentally disabled men through daily care, transportation, and recreation. Whether through home visits, community outings, or shared games, Owen’s work centers on compassion and human connection.
His service extends far beyond one organization. Owen has also volunteered with Kohl’s Kicking Camps, Labre Ministry for the Homeless, the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine, More Than Food, and the Jesuit Day of Service, where he has served as a site captain. Each experience reflects his belief that leadership is best measured by impact.
A Leader on Campus
At John Carroll, Owen continues to lead through service and example. He serves as President of the Pre-Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Club, Vice President of the Gift of Life Club, and works as a Student Ambassador for the university. Through these roles, he promotes teamwork, mentorship, and a spirit of giving back.
The Spirit of the Good Works Team
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honors college football players who make a lasting impact through community service and leadership. Owen’s story embodies that mission, showing that true success in football goes beyond trophies; it’s about using your platform to serve others.
