Texas Tech gives BYU its first loss

Texas Tech kicker Stone Harrington booted a school record five field goals and the Red Raider defense held BYU to a season low 255 total yards in a decisive 29-7 win. The victory puts Texas Tech on top of the Big 12 standings with three weeks left in the regular season. The Red Raiders jump one spot to No. 8 in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll while BYU rises two places to No. 12 despite the loss.
The top seven remained the same from last week with Ohio State still in charge. Virginia dropped its first ACC contest this year, losing 16-9 to Wake Forest, and dropped eight spots to No. 19, while Louisville lost in overtime to California, 29-26, and fell six spots to No. 21. Memphis and Iowa fell out of the top 25, allowing No. 23 Pittsburgh and No. 25 James Madison to enter.
