Thanks to a stiff defense and a clutch offense that rose to the occasion, Indiana beat Ohio State, 13-10, in the Big Ten championship game to move to 13-0 on the season and No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. It was the Hoosiers first out-right Big Ten title since 1945 and their first victory over the Buckeyes since 1988. Ohio State only drops two spots to No. 3.
Georgia moves to No. 2 after beating Alabama, 28-7, in the SEC title game. The loss dropped the Crimson Tide to No. 11. Texas Tech won their first Big XII championship, beating BYU, 34-7, and moved up to No. 4. Oregon was idle and dropped one spot to No. 5.
