In this conversation, Coach Englehart reflects on the journey that has shaped his career in the coaching profession. From his early days as a quarterback to his role as a head coach at multiple levels of college football, Englehart discusses the lessons he learned from building programs, developing coaching staffs, and navigating major transitions throughout his career.
Englehart shares insight into his early coaching opportunities, including how he landed his first job and immersed himself in Division III football after playing at the FCS level. He also discusses becoming a head coach at a young age and the growth that came with leading a program early in his career.
Later in the conversation, Englehart reflects on launching a startup football program at Florida Tech, the challenges of building a program from the ground up, and the difficult reality of seeing that program eventually shut down. He also discusses his stops at Presbyterian College and West Georgia, including the unique experience of coaching his son while at Presbyterian.
