AFCA Applauds NCAA Transfer Window and Convention Dead Period
October 9, 2025
The AFCA commends the NCAA Administrative Committee for establishing the transfer notification window for January 2–16, 2026. This important decision provides student-athletes with a clear and fair opportunity to declare their intent to enter the transfer portal, while also promoting stability and continuity within football programs.
We also extend our appreciation to the NCAA for preserving the integrity of the AFCA Convention experience. By implementing dead periods around the Convention, coaches are able to attend without the demands of on- or off-campus recruiting responsibilities. This continued support underscores the NCAA’s commitment to professional development within our coaching community.
Looking ahead, the AFCA will explore the possibility of moving the Convention to a different time of year to further align with the evolving college football calendar. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in Charlotte.
