AFCA Patch Weekend Celebrates Ninth Straight Year of Success
September 9, 2025
For the ninth consecutive year, football coaching staffs proudly wore American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) patches on their shirts during the first two weeks of the 2025 football season showcasing their support for the association and its mission. More than 600 high school, junior college, and four-year college programs participated nationwide, making this one of the most successful AFCA Patch Weekends to date.
“AFCA Patch Weekend continues to show the strength and unity of our profession,” said AFCA Executive Director Craig Bohl. “With coaches at every level displaying their AFCA pride on the sidelines, we’ve been able to raise awareness of the association while honoring the tradition and future of the coaching profession.”
A Tradition Rooted in History
Founded in 1922, the AFCA has grown to more than 11,000 members worldwide and has been guided by some of the greatest names in the sport such as John Heisman, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Bear Bryant, Darrell Royal, Carmen Cozza, Eddie Robinson, and many others. Today, under the leadership of 2025 AFCA President and University of Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, the association continues to educate, support, and promote football coaches at every level.
Looking Ahead
Patch Weekend not only highlighted the AFCA’s proud history but also reaffirmed the importance of uniting coaches to advance the game. With another successful year in the books, the AFCA looks forward to continuing this tradition and building momentum toward the 2026 AFCA Convention in Charlotte.
We want to thank every program and every coach who participated. Your support makes AFCA Patch Weekend a true celebration of the coaching profession.
