BYU’s Tanner Wall: From Interceptions to Impact | Allstate AFCA Good Works Team
October 14, 2025
BYU senior defensive back Tanner Wall embodies what it means to be a student-athlete who leads with both performance and purpose. A team captain for the BYU Cougars and a member of the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Wall has built a reputation as a playmaker, scholar, and servant leader.
Consistent Excellence on the Field
In 2024, Wall started all 13 games for BYU, anchoring the secondary and co-leading the team with three interceptions. His versatility and instinct made him a difference-maker on defense and special teams, earning him Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice during the season.
Commitment in the Classroom
Wall’s dedication doesn’t stop when he leaves the field. A standout in the classroom, he was named to the CSC Academic All-America First Team and is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree. His ability to balance high-level athletics and academics reflects the discipline and drive that define his approach to every area of life.
Impact Beyond Football
Through his leadership in the BYU Pathway Program, he mentors students throughout Africa and the South Pacific, helping them build English and job readiness skills. As co-chair of the BYU SAAC Service Committee, he has helped organize community service initiatives that connect athletes to meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Wall also gives back closer to home, volunteering weekly at Utah Valley Hospital and speaking regularly at schools and youth events. His message to young people is clear: success is about more than stats — it’s about using your platform to uplift others.
A Leader Worth Recognizing
Tanner Wall’s story is a testament to the mission of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, honoring college football players who make an impact where it matters most: in their communities. Through his leadership, humility, and dedication, Wall continues to demonstrate what it means to lead with purpose, both on the court and in life.
