Meet Plae Wyatt: Rice University’s Standout Leader in Football and Service
October 29, 2025
From the Field to the Community
After a breakout 2023 season leading Rice University with 81 tackles, Plae Wyatt entered 2024 ready to build on his success. But an early-season injury changed everything. Instead of focusing on his performance on the field, Plae turned his energy toward leadership, mentorship, and service, showing what it truly means to be part of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
A Legacy of Mentorship
Service runs deep in Plae’s family. Following in the footsteps of his father, who founded the McKinney Yellow Jackets, Plae has spent more than six years mentoring and coaching at-risk youth, helping them develop both on and off the field. His dedication to giving back reflects the lessons he grew up with that football is about more than wins and stats; it’s about using your platform to make an impact.
Giving Back Through Football
In 2024, Plae launched the Plae Wyatt Free Youth Football Camp, a no-cost experience designed to give young athletes access to training, mentorship, and life lessons from college players and coaches. Beyond the camp, his service extends throughout the Houston area through food outreach programs, youth mentorship initiatives, and volunteer work with organizations like Operation Turkey and TNT Thanksgiving Dinners.
Resilience and Purpose
Plae’s journey is one of resilience and purpose. While many would see injury as a setback, he used it as an opportunity to grow and give back. His story embodies the spirit of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, transforming challenges into opportunities to serve others and lead.
