
Oklahoma Shines in Top 25 Battle

Oklahoma’s new quarterback, John Mateer ran for two touchdowns and threw another while head coach Brent Venables called a great defensive game which held the Michigan offense to just 288 total yards allowing the Sooners to upset the Wolverines, 24-13. With the victory, OU rose eight spots to No. 16 while Michigan dropped nine to No. 22 in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll.
Ohio State remains in the top spot with 62 first-place votes, followed by Penn State, Georgia, LSU and Oregon. The top five remained the same, but the bottom half of the top 10 changed. Miami (Fla.) and Texas flip-flopped the 6 and 7 spots while Notre Dame climbed one space to No. 8. Illinois and South Carolina both enter the top 10 for the first time, at 9 and 10, respectively.
