In this conversation, Coach Almond reflects on the path that led him through the coaching profession from starting as a young coach trying to establish credibility at just 19 years old to working his way through multiple roles across college football. Along the way, he shares how perseverance, relationship-building, and a willingness to learn from every opportunity helped shape his career.
Coach Almond discusses his early experiences breaking into college coaching, including his time at Sierra College and Sacramento State, and the lessons he learned navigating the realities of the profession, from volunteer roles to full-time positions. He also reflects on his time as head coach at Christian Brothers High School and how that experience helped prepare him for future leadership opportunities at the college level.
Throughout the episode, Almond emphasizes the importance of relationships within the coaching profession and how those connections helped open doors throughout his career.
