Vandy beats LSU for the first time since 1990
October 19, 2025
It took 35 years, but Vanderbilt finally beat LSU on the football field. Thanks to Diego Pavia’s three touchdowns and a clock-controlling offense, the Commodores beat the Tigers, 31-24, for the first time since 1990. Coupled with their win over previously No. 11-ranked South Carolina earlier in the season, Vanderbilt has beaten two top-15 ranked teams in the same season for the first time in program history. The victory jumped Vandy up six spots to No. 12 in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll while LSU dropped nine places to No. 19.
Thanks to top 10 losses by Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Texas Tech and LSU, this week’s top 25 is completely different. The only thing that hasn’t changed is Ohio State at No. 1. Indiana now takes over the No. 2 spot, followed by Texas A&M. Alabama took down Tennessee, 37-20, and moves up to No. 4, while Georgia took Ole Miss from the list of unbeatens, winning 43-35, and jumping into the fifth spot.
