The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) congratulates the U.S. Senate on the passing of the Protect College Sports Act. The strong bipartisan support for this legislation demonstrates a national commitment to establishing needed standards for college football while providing important protections for our student-athletes.
The Protect College Sports Act contains specific language that addresses the AFCA’s top priorities of agent accountability and registration, standardization of the eligibility model, protection of student-athletes’ transfer rights within appropriate limitations, and the establishment of a reasonable national calendar for the football playing season. Together, these priorities provide a foundation of clarity, consistency, and stability for student-athletes, coaches, and institutions across college athletics.
Continued action by Congress is strongly supported as the U.S. House of Representatives works to advance the Protect College Sports Act when it returns to session in November.
